Today I visited the clinic because i’ve had an on going flu for quite some time. The doctor gave me an antibiotic called Suprax, but when I told him I was on the pill he said there was some kind of “new study” that said there were only 2 types of antibiotics that effect the pill(which are rarely used). I would like to know if anyone knew anything about this study. I know condoms are always a safe choice, but still im curious to know any facts about this “new study” and if the pill is less/or usual in effectivness.

Ues a condom. Any antibiotic can effect the pill. My grandma had both my aunts that way, and my sister-in-law had both of her kids that way too.
I am not on the pill because I am too young, and I am allergic to suprax, but from the research I have done on birth control, I’m pretty sure taking any medication while on the pill can affect it.
I call BS on what that doc told you. Switch docs. I get strep throat every year and they prescribe me amoxicillin which is a common antibiotic which DOES have an effect on birth control. Please, please consult another physician. Better safe than sorry.
