drugs can kick in after about 1 hour. It takes a few days to get the full affect.

All drugs or different like all people all different. I heard lexapro does increase the appetite. But not a whole lot. But as u said, every person is different. I also heard good things ablout lexapro and it worked really quick. Had a uncle depressed and home for 5 yrs. The day after he started lexapro he was dressed and ready for the casino. I’m thinking of trying it myself in 2 weeks when I see the doc. But yea I would say u r feeling the effects of it alreay and as the other person said u will feel the full effects shortly after. Within 2 weeks u will have the full benifits

The results and side effects you’ll get will be different from everyone else, so don’t’ worry about the results that your friends have had with certain drugs. It will take a few weeks to get the full effect of Lexapro, and for those effects to be more consistent. Its great that you are feeling better now, but don’t be discouraged if you slump back again in a few days- it WILL even out after a while.
As for the appetite- make sure to keep exercising and pay attention to whether your appetite increases. Part of that is normal for people recovering from depression that has decreased their appetites in the first place. If you gain weight you can discuss this with your doctor before it gets out of hand, but it most likely will not be significant enough to outweigh the benefits of feeling better. After all, you’ll probably feel more active and healthy, which can counteract an appetite increase.

    omg i can answer!

i was on lexapro for 3 months
the first month i took 10mg and it was HEAVEN i was like Wow im into these pills. It was a very “I found the cure to problems” feeling.

the second month i continued on 10mg… sadly, the optimistic feelings started to fade and i was lethargic a lot and all of a sudden confused all the time and totally noticed i was flatulenting out of control ALL DAY AND NIGHT…

the 3rd month the doctor put me 20mg….. Whooow what a jolt of medication… i can honestly say sometimes i felt pretty high… i had moments of feeling “Life is Good”

    BUT

I couldnt stop farting and somehow I was getting FAT!!!!!!!!

the day i noticed all the Wieght gain was 3 weeks into 20mg
I PRETTY MUCH FLIPPED AND HAD SEVER PANIC AND DEPRESSION due to the wieght gain stupid lexapro caused…

the doctor put me on Prozac 20mg for two months and I have mixed feeling about prozac so i dont take them everyday… prozac hasnt affected my weight but its doesnt make me happy either it makes me act mean and bitchy and assertive so like i said i have mixed feelings about prozac…

when i see my doctor this week im gonna ask for something called wellburtrim because i read some good reviews and that supposedly this one wont cause Weight gain
